Are you annoyed by constant pop-up ads after you installed GreenPlayer on the computer? The ads displayed on your browser are usually marked with “Ads by GreenPlayer”. Why do those ads pop up on your computer? How can you get rid of them? Read this post and you will find the answers.
What is GreenPlayer?
GreenPlayer is a web-based program which allows you to stream dynamically different types of audio-visual media on one or more displays. The software manages your digital communication and helps you to reach your target audience and improves the effect of your messages. It sounds great. However, the software is considered as a potentially unwanted program or adware program for it often gets installed on users’ machines in tricky ways and displays a lot of ads. It is an ad-supported application so it supports several forms of advertisements including but not limited to banner and video ads, in-text ads and links, web browsing related ads, interstitial, transitional, search, and full page ads. The program is compatible with many popular web browser including Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Opera and Safari. But, depending on your favorite browser, the features of our software may be a little different because some may not work in certain browsers.
Though the software is not a computer virus, it may download and install other third-party applications like FaceThemes which could compromise your browsers and slow them down. Your browser settings including default homepages and search providers may be altered without permission and the DNS settings could be also changed. In addition, other unnecessary browser helper objects may be added to your browsers for further control. Please note that the software may enable cookies to collect your personal data for commercial purposes. In this way, it is able to deliver you advertisements based on your interests. The third-party ads displayed by it may redirect you to websites which contain unsafe content, so you’d better click on them when seeing them pop up on the screen or your web pages. For the sake of your computer, we suggest you uninstall GreenPlayer from the computer rather than keep and use it.
Note: Sometimes the adware may come along with other potentially unwanted programs that may harm the computer. If your computer performance becomes weird even if this software has been removed, you’d better scan your system with a professional anti-malware program.
How did you get GreenPlayer and how to prevent similar unwanted programs?
Usually, the adware is bundled with other 3-rd party free applications. When you attempt to download a piece of software, you search it online and find many results from which you can download the software. If you don’t pay attention to the source and randomly visit a website and click on Download button from that site, it’s probably that you have a fake program downloaded. In addition to the software you want, some other unwanted apps are also installed on your computer. Both your computer and browser performance will be affected by those PUPs. Sometimes, pop-ups from some legitimate websites can lead to the invasion of such unwanted adware programs. If you carelessly click on them, unwanted applications and pop-ups may show up on the PC soon.
To avoid those adware programs or potentially unwanted programs, you should download software created by reputable companies and go to their official or reliable websites to get them. When installing the software, remember to choose the Custom/Advanced Install instead of the Express/Recommended Install. The Custom/Advanced Install commonly allows you to decline the special offer such as unwanted ad-supported programs. In addition, it’s important to keep a good real-time anti-virus program on the PC.
